Fjerdingstad windows are subjected to the following process: First there is a visual control, rig adjustment, knot varnishing, filling and polishing. Then they are painted twice, checked and polished. Finally they are given two finishing coatings of paint.

Surface Treatment

The increasing trend among customers is to order fully treated windows. Our wood treating facilities include the latest technology to assure an even quality as well as meeting the highest environmental standards. Each part of the window and door is treated separately before assembly. The electrostatic treatment ensures accuracy and efficiency. For the treatment process we use water based products from one the largest manufacturer - Akzo Nobel. These products have proven their reliability through years of testing and application and they do not pollute the environment.

Laminated Timber

All H-Products are supplied with laminated timber. When wood is laminated, the inherent tension naturally present in wood is neutralised and with the reason for warping. This means that H-Windows and H-Doors stay tight and in shape and may be opened and closed easily. The choice of materials is important, for aesthetical reasons as well to secure long lifetime and easy maintenance. We only use first grade pine and spruce; pine for the lamella that faces the room for its good looks and spruce in lamella that faces the exterior because of its water resistant cellular structure and excellent paint and stain adhesive properties.

Ventilators

H-Windows are supplied with Spilvent slit ventilators as standard. Air is being led into the rooms because of the construction of the ventilator. When closed, the ventilator is quite tight. Other ventilators, e.g. Biobe are optional.

Glazing

H-Products are supplied with insulating glass according to our customers' wish. When choosing your glazing option, you should above all consider the insulating capacity, the U-value. The lower the U-value the better the insulating capacity - and the lower your heating costs will be. Our most common glazing is the double layer insulation with low emission glass in one of the panes (energy glazing) and 15mm air chamber with argon filling between the panes. We also supply triple glazing and several different special glazing options, e.g. noise reducing or solar absorbent according to our customers' specification.

Opening Mechanism

The quality, durability and design of the fittings are decisive for the function of a window throughout its lifetime. The fittings of the H-Window are considered the best there are.

Function tests: Up to 300,000 movements, where 20,000 movements correspond to the wear of a school window which is opened every break for 25 years
